My first theme is Love. Love is portrayed by mainly every single character in this story. The best example of love from the story is when Eva is dying, and Tom who had become so attached to her has to see her suffer and die from her disease. Meanwhile the whole time she is dying, he is expressing his love to her by providing comfort and goodwill to her.
My next theme is Hope. Tom is the best example of hope throughout the story because he had hope when he prays for slavery to be abolished. His hope continues for the entire story, until he is sadly killed.
My third theme is Faith. Tom is again the best example of faith. Do to Tom having faith in God and in himself, he is able to endure hardships and become mentally stronger because of faith.
My next theme is Joy. Eva is full of joy, and that joy can be accredited to Tom. Since his hope, faith, and love had come into Eva's life, she was a new person. Her new personality was filled with Joy because of her best friend Tom.
My last theme is Persistence. Tom again is the most prominent figure for persistence. It is indisputable considering he is a black slave with less right than a cow, and because of the miserable beatings he has endured. His persistence is so great that all the horrible things that have been done to him are blocked out, because he is mentally strong and focused on his goal in life.
