Passion is Important
Harriet Beecher Stowe was considered an odd woman. First of all it was very bold and unusual for a woman to be publicly expressing her opinion. She was down sized even more because her opinion was over a topic that was affecting the whole nation. I respect Harriet Beecher Stowe for having the guts to firmly stand for what she believed in. Countless numbers of people wanted her head because she was a woman who was speaking out against slavery. Not only was she just a women speaking out against slavery, she was the first person to provide the people with the true aspects of slavery.
Next, not only did i like her for not being discouraged to speak out, I also liked her for the great story she wrote. The story was considered the spark, which started the Civil War. After the slave holders’ true treatment of slaves was revealed, the people from the North were fed up with slavery, and the people of the south were mad because their true colors were revealed.
Although the story was well written and expressed. I did not like that she made the story so long, and at times confusing. I realize that with great literature comes an assortment of words and great grammar skills however Stowe used too much description in her sentences, and that made the story a lot longer. Realizing the fact that the story is being told with Southern accents and improper words, the story became confusing at times because not only were you as the reader trying to figure out what was happening, you also had to figure out what the assorted and dismantled words were spelling.
Lastly this story can have great benefit to any person. It can have great benefit because Uncle Tom is a great example of persistence, and what it can do for you. Uncle Tom, fought for what he believed in throughout the whole story, and in the end he won his/ Harriet Beecher Stowe's battle against slavery. Slavery was abolished in the story, and the Civil War was started, which also ended slavery. This is a perfect example that shows anybody that they can do anything with persistence and passion.
